- Updated Adobe XMP Toolkit to CC2014 version.

 

Some news from XMP Toolikt release notes (since 5.4 version):

- Added support for video files shot using GoPro cameras in the MPEG4 handler in XMPFiles

- Added support in the MPEG4 handler in XMPFiles for repairing ill-formed structure in all

MPEG4 files.

- Added support for PSIR marker larger than 64K in JPG files

- Enabled read/write support in XMPFiles for JPEG files with multiple EXIF APP1 markers

- Added support for spanned clips in the P2 handler

- Added support for parsing and reconciling the iXML chunk in Wave files in the WAVE Handler

- Bugs Fixes in XMPFiles

- Fixed memory leaks in several file handlers and native support files in XMPFiles

- Fixed security issues in both XMPCore and XMPFiles

- Support of long file paths on windows

- Postscript handler enhanced, now it supports packet expansion and new packet insertion

Daminion 4.5 (1360)

 

PLEASE USE THIS BUILD WITH TEST CATALOGS ONLY!

 

A new Daminion 4.5 beta version with more than 5 important and 20 minor improvements is ready for testing. Most of the features in this release are addressed to Daminion Server.

 

Important:

- Daminion Web-Client is under development yet and doesn't follow Access Control restrictions now. For example, users with Guest role can download original files.

- If you will open an existing catalog with 4.5 version you might see the "Pending" status in your admin panel for a long time (up to 10-30 mins). This indicates that Daminion is updating your catalogs.

 

 

Major Improvements:

 

1. Lightweight Web-Client. You can search, view, and export your digital assets from Macs, tablets and mobiles now thanks to a new lightweight web-client for Daminion Server. Works with "Daminion Security" mode only. AD Security mode isn't supported now (working on it...)

 

2. Tracking Usage Purpose. You can track now where your assets were used, when and by whom via the Usage Purpose tracking. For example, you can see that a photo was published on NYTimes on 2011 and don’t send it to National Geographic to avoid license conflicts.

It is built in in the export, email, print options. You can search for Usage Purpose fields via the Advanced search

 

3. Real-time File Watching Service – we finally did it. Daminion Server can now reflect for outside file system changes immediately after receiving a signal from Windows that new files were added/remove to/from watching folders or a folder/file was renamed outside of the Daminion. This decreases the CPU and HDD load on your server PC because your folder structure will not be rescanned repeatedly after each interval of time. But you can still use an old auto-rescan way for files and folders on remote Linux/MacOS based locations like NAS/SAN devices. File watching service works as a separate service and can work even if Daminion Server was stopped.

 

4. Users Roles per Catalog. A user might have different roles for different catalogs. You can disable access for a certain catalog for some users.

 

5. Improved file format support.

- Quality thumbnails are displayed for InDesign Files.

- Added support for SVG images.

- Added support for importing Revit files (AutoCad should be installed on the server PC for displaying quality thumbnails)

- Improved handling of TIFF files

- Added support for updating XMP in PDF files

- Better support for rendering thumbnails of EPS/AI vector images. It doesn’t necessary to buy third-party components now. Ghostscript will be installed during the Daminion installation automatically.

- Added support for writing tags as XMP to PNG images when exporting

 

Minor Improvements

 

- Number of connected Users and catalog database version is displayed in the admin panel now.

- Report after rescan. It’s possible to see full rescan report via menu: Catalog > Rescan Reports or by right clicking on the rescan progress button on LB

- Added Groups into Saved Searches

- User management is possible via web-browser now. So if your company outsourced IT support you can manage users without accessing to your server PC via remote session

- Scroll position in the right Properties panel is now remembered when changing item selection

- Custom tags are included into the Quick Search

- Documents and Vector images stored on a local server based PC can be copied to the local client based PC

- Added a new tag Fonts. Mapped to XMP: Fonts

- Added an option into the context menu in tag tree to display the selected tag in the second panel. Ideal when you need reorder values within the same tag by dragging them from one tag panel to another one.

- Full Screen or MidSize JPEG preview will be displayed for offline files now

- Admin can set automatic client disconnecting

- Added "Grant Concurrent Connection" option

- You can see now a number of connected users and catalog version

 

Bug fixes:

 

- Fixed bug with rendering TIFF files

- Fixed bug when sending via Gmail and Google Mail stopped work (because Google changed their authentication algorithms for their GData library)

- Fixed bug with removing GPS tags via the Properties panel

- Fixed bug when Rescan didn’t properly worked when a Drive was selected in the folder tree

- Fixed bug when Files are not removed after rescan

- Fixed bug when some folders are not imported by Rescan (Dean’s PC)

- Renaming tags in the left panel is now reflected on the right Properties panel

- Fixed bug when tags are not saved for exporting images

- Fixed bug when exporting files to CSV in shared catalogs

- Find images in the Internet now works again (adopted Google changes)

- Fixed minor bug when importing files from CSV file

- Admin/admin hint is visible now when Daminion Server is installed at first

- Fixed bug with displaying AD users in Access Control and Set Access Permission windows

- Fixed bug with incorrect displaying of photos in Filmstrip mode

- Flags and Saved searches are imported when importing Local Catalogs to Server ones.

- Added Collections to Web-client

- Added experimental tray application that allows you to launch external applications directly from Web-Client (available for Windows only, Mac version will be ready soon). Must be downloaded separately (DaminionWebClientAssistantSetup.exe-4.5.0.1391.exe)

- Guests can use Ctrl+Shift+C command (copy file paths)

- Fixed bug with automatic setting Security Rights to Active Directory Security mode.

- Synonyms are exported correctly now (but not parent tag synonyms!)

- Several minor bug fixes
