kingsfan
Long time Daminion user since the early beta days, but lately I have noticed 2 issues, even in version 4.0. 1. The simple function of importing .CR2 files into a newly created catalog is extremely slow. The counter at the lower left of the application window keep jumping around as well. 2. The author tag is not getting populated from the .CR2 file. It should (as always) map to the "Artist" tag. Please assist. Thanks.
kingsfan
Quick update on the Author tag - If I force a "Read Tags from File" action on the .CR2 file, the Author tag populates but it is shown in Purple. What does a purple colored tag value mean? Also note that the Artist value in EXIF metadata does exist - as evidenced by the Artist value showing in the "Show all Metadata..." dump. It is Daminion that is refusing to read it. Please fix annoying regression bug ASAP. Thanks.
kingsfan
Bump :-(. Any ideas on these topics is appreciated.
kingsfan
Hmmm... Daminion folks, do you have time for a response to this inquiry? Thanks.

kingsfan
right-click on the Author tag and you get the option to approve this new imported tag to use it in your catalog. Thanks for the response. I am not sure I am being clear. The "Author" metadata value maps to the Artist value. I have attached a screen shot of where the Copyright value is getting read but the corresponding Author value is not.
Uwe
Hello kingsfan, sorry, I you have to click on the tag in the Catalog Panel. Regards, Uwe
kingsfan
Hi Uwe, I get it now - the purple is for unapproved values - Thanks. However, the issue remains that the Author value is not being read by Daminion although it is part of the metadata read by EXIFtool.
Jacal
I have reported this more than once in the past, for instance here: EXIF:Artist not imported from raw files
kingsfan
I have reported this more than once in the past, for instance here: EXIF:Artist not imported from raw files That's good to know, and kind of sad - because I know Daminion was a lot more responsive in its early days. Uwe
Hello, just an additional information: converting the same CR2 file to DNG in the import process the Author and the Copyright tags are ok. Regards, Uwe
Murat
Unfortunately I can't reproduce the issue with importing Artist. With my CR2 files all artists are imported into the Author tag. Jacal and Kingsfan, can you please send me by one sample CR2 images for analyzing to support/at/daminion/dot/net?
Jacal
Murat, I've sent you link to a sample via PM.
lintujuh
Hi, I have the same issue as Jacal and Kingsfan. I hadn't checked this earlier. Funny thing is that my CR2s from 31-May-12 to 3-Jan-2014 have the Author tag set. -Juha
Jacal
Yes, this issue has been introduced somewhere between versions 988 and 994.

kingsfan
Thanks Murat. Please let us know when a new build is ready to test the fix for the author tag. Is the catalog import performance I have originally posted also a known issue? Would you like me to post a short video of what I am seeing in terms of perf? Jacal
With build 1274, exif:artist from my cr2 files is now properly imported into Author tag.
Murat
Is the catalog import performance I have originally posted also a known issue? Would you like me to post a short video of what I am seeing in terms of perf? Yep. You can send me a video file. Let me also know some info about your environment: PC configuration, LAN parameters, average file sizes.
