  1. Hello, please do not mind the somewhat provocative headline. Previously, I used the local catalog on a laptop to temporarily catalog and already tag photos during a trip. Back home, I then imported the photos into my main catalog and deleted both the photos and the local catalog on the laptop. If this option should no longer exist, then I would have to use another program to already tag the photos during the trip, for example, with keywords, title and description, etc. Now I don't know the details of the Daminion license terms. An alternative could be to install Daminion Server with the same license number on two computers, but not use it at the same time. Note the different port numbers for the PostgreSQL DB and Daminion on the laptop. Or also the use of Daminion Server on the second computer without license number with certain function restrictions and/or limitation of the number of files per catalog etc. Are there already reliable statements and ideas from Daminion? Many greetings, Uwe
  2. I have not noticed that. You can open an existing local catalogue but not create a new one. I don't know if this is a bug. Daminion does not want to support stand-alone catalogs in the future, so maybe this is a first step in that direction. Regards, Uwe
  3. Hi Miklos, did you enable face recognition in the Admin Panel for this catalog? If yes, check if the service Faces.Detector is running. If yes, wait - after some time you will see faces. This was the status in my system. Regards, Uwe
  4. I guess these files are part of the face recognition
  5. In the Person-Tab I can select: "This is not ...". I would like to have the option to specify the person which is wrong assigned. Regards, Uwe
  6. Hi Daria, thank you. That gives an overview of percentage to: already analysed/to do Regards, Uwe
  7. In the Admin Panel Preferences one can start/stop the process
  8. When the process of face recognition of the already existing photos is completed, I suggest that you can then select photos to which face recognition will be applied: e.g. photos that have been newly imported. As a result, the people tag in the metadata should then be filled with the confirmed names, according to my chosen syntax. Regards, Uwe
  9. What does it mean "significant for some time"? This is the status since the activation of the face recognition 3 days ago. I would be helpful to have status information about the process: total number of files to analyse/already analysed. I stopped and restarted the process and this is the current status: less memory consumption. Do you plan to use the GPU to analyse the files? Regards, Uwe
  10. A "sleeping server" without connection to the client doesn't stress the system. But if you would like to shut down the Daminion server you should also shut down the PostgreSQL service .
  11. Hi, the Face recognition needs a lot of memory and CPU in the background. Daminion client is not started. Is this ok? Regards, Uwe
  12. Hi SergeS, Daria wrote in this post how to save the sort by status: Regards, Uwe
  13. no, you can run both on the same computer: server and client. regards, Uwe
  14. Hello, I got this exception and can reproduce it. Daria got the video by Skype. Regards, Uwe System.OverflowException: Der Wert für ein Double war zu groß oder zu klein. bei System.Number.ParseDouble(String value, NumberStyles options, NumberFormatInfo numfmt) bei System.Convert.ToDouble(String value) bei PicaJet.Daminion.BusinessObjects.MetadataPresetUtils.ParsePreset(MetadataPreset preset, IStackDataSource source) in C:\DaminionAutoGit\code\BusinessObjects\MetadataPresetUtils.cs:Zeile 183. bei PicaJet.Daminion.ClientCommon.MetadataPresetPresenter.GenerateMixedChanges(MetadataPreset preset, ICatalogMetadataManager manager) in C:\DaminionAutoGit\code\ClientCommon\Presenters\MetadataPresetPresenter.cs:Zeile 1230. bei PicaJet.Daminion.ClientCommon.MetadataPresetPresenter.ApplyPresetToItems(MetadataPreset preset, ICatalogView catalogView, IList`1 ids, MediaItemMixedChanger mixedChanger, Boolean silent, FileNameGenerator generator, IProgressView progressView) in C:\DaminionAutoGit\code\ClientCommon\Presenters\MetadataPresetPresenter.cs:Zeile 1207. bei PicaJet.Daminion.ClientCommon.MetadataPresetPresenter.ApplyPresetToItems(MetadataPreset preset, Int64[] ids) in C:\DaminionAutoGit\code\ClientCommon\Presenters\MetadataPresetPresenter.cs:Zeile 819. bei PicaJet.Daminion.ClientCommon.PicaJetEnginePresenter.PasteTagsFromClipboard(Object sender, ActionExecuteEventArgs e) in C:\DaminionAutoGit\code\ClientCommon\Presenters\PicaJetEnginePresenterActions.cs:Zeile 2867. bei PicaJet.Daminion.ClientCommon.Action.ExecuteAction(Object sender, ActionExecuteEventArgs e) in C:\DaminionAutoGit\code\ClientCommon\Classes\Action.cs:Zeile 397. bei PicaJet.Daminion.GUIComponents.ContextMenuGenerator.MainMenuItemClick(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:\DaminionAutoGit\code\GUIComponents\Classes\ContextMenuGenerator.cs:Zeile 595. bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.RaiseEvent(Object key, EventArgs e) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem.OnClick(EventArgs e) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleClick(EventArgs e) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleMouseUp(MouseEventArgs e) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEventInteractive(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEvent(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mea) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mea) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripDropDown.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) bei System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
  15. I don't know. If the tag is: family name (Green) first name (Jenny) one can assign the synonym Jenny Miller to Jenny etc. Have to check it because the new name is not really a synonym. Regards, Uwe
  16. Hello, if there is a people hierarchy like Others Paul Young Mike Old one can't assign faces to the main tag "Others". If there are no subtags of "Others" one can assign faces. For example, I assign the "Other" tag in the Properties panel to people in the photo that I don't know but are in the photo to know that it is a photo with people in it. If I know the person, I assign the "Other" subtag e.g. Mike Old to them. regards, Uwe
  17. Hello, some years ago I described different scenarios how to handle name changes in Daminion, see attached document. With the new face recognition feature, the question arises again for me: to which tag should I assign the person? In youth or before marriage her name was Jenny Green and afterwards Jenny Miller. Should one differentiate when assigning the faces? Should I assign all faces to the currently valid tag, i.e. Jenny Miller, or should I split and distinguish between faces from the youth or before the marriage and afterwards. Whereby the topic of divorce and new marriage or new name etc. must then be considered again and again. What do you do, how have you mapped this in your catalog? Many greetings, Uwe Please use this post for discussion only and open new posts for bug reports, feature requests etc. Daminion Change Name People Tag.pdf
  18. you are right. I use the same syntax Lastname\Firstname but didn't check that it is sorted by Firstname
  19. Hello, I played with the new function too and have all of the same comments noticed and sent to Daria. Sometimes I got exceptions when I used the action "This is not..." and a "out of memory" exception. It would be helpful if the names of the people will be sorted in the "Specify people" window. I get pictures of maps and ornaments too to assign to people and would like to "sort out" from face recognition. In many photos of my catalog are persons which I will never specify but I assigned the people tag "others" just to know that there are people in the photo or more then the names of known and tagged peoples by name. I would like to "sort out" these people too. Regards, Uwe
  20. This bug is still present in build 2555.
  21. Hello, since many years I use the following "Open with..." command of the ExifTool to set dates in the metadata. The syntax of the file names is: YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS-nnn.ext: -overwrite_original "-EXIF:datetimeoriginal<filename" "-EXIF:createdate<filename" "-XMP:createdate<filename" "-XMP:datecreated<filename" "-XMP:datetimeoriginal<filename" "-PDF:createdate<filename" {Filename} Now seems to be a problem there with PDF files. A file name: 20211007_060000-000.pdf has the tag "XMP-exif:Date/Time Original 2021:10:07 06:00:00" The action "Read Tags from file" creates in Daminion the "CreationDateTime 2021-10-07 08:00:00" (timestamp without time zone). The "Read tags from File" of a TIF file (20211007_060000-000.tif) with the same time metadata doesn't shift the time and the result is "CreationDateTime 2021-10-07 06:00:00". Why is there a different handling of the time (use UTC if a PDF, doesn't use UTC if TIF etc) regards, Uwe
  22. Hello, following the priority of the mapping rules Daminion should read (action Read Tags from File) an existing tag "XMP-exif:DateTimeOriginal" BUT it reads the tag "PDF-CreateDate" which is not even defined in the mapping rules. regards, Uwe
  23. Hello, sorry, but other than described in the bux fixes of build 2552: the shutter speed is still wrong. I made a "read tags from file" of all items with Shutter Speed 1/250 (these were all items which were wrong and which were ok). I've expected to find only right items with Shutter Speed 1/250 assignd to the tag. Files without Exposure Time (PDF, scanned TIF, GPX etc) get a Shutter Speed = 1/11104. But now the Tag Shutter Speed 1/250 = 0 and a lot of wrong Shutter Speed 1/245 of items which have Exposure Time = 1/250. Please check the screen shots. regards, Uwe
  24. Yes, importing the same files in a local test catalog: ok No: importing the same files by rescan Folders in a shared test catalog: no shutter speed appears.
  25. Hello Daria, you got a video by Skype. This video shows: there is a JPG file (imported in 2016) shutter speed = 1/250 in the metadata and the corresponding entry in the table mediaitems of the shutter speed. The action "Read Tags from file" now with version 7.0 of this file creates a Shutter Speed entry 1/10 !!! in the database. Regards, Uwe
