Uwe Posted November 28, 2025 Report Posted November 28, 2025 Hello, I have reported several errors here in the forum (and also directly to Daminion). Unfortunately, these have not been corrected for several years/builds: Incorrect handling of the altitude tag when it has decimal places (as recorded by Garmin). This causes the metadata in the file to be incorrect: e.g. 100.5 m becomes 1005 m. Error in the ‘copy tags’ function: the tags Creation Date Time, Title and Description are not copied from the source file to the destination file. Different handling of the camera tag, which means that, for example, photos from the ‘Canon 5D MK III’ are assigned and counted under the tag “Canon” as a sub-tag, or a tag ‘Canon 5D MKIII’ is created on the same level as ‘Canon’. Now new in build 3797, MP4 files are not imported correctly and a thumbnail representing a corrupt file appears. Etc. Now my request, since Daminion claims that all these errors are isolated incidents and no one else, especially corporate customers, is affected: Who else has noticed such errors besides me? I have been using Daminion for about 15 years, even before the first 1.0 version, and I am still a big fan of the software. I look forward to your response. Thank you, Uwe My system: Windows 11 25H2, on internal 1TB M2 SSD, all current updates Processor (13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700 (2.10 GHz)) RAM 64.0 GB Daminion catalogue, thumbnails on internal 1TB SATA SSD Photos etc. on NAS Synology DS1517+ with 1GB LAN Translated with DeepL.com (free version) Quote
aebe_ch Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 Hi Uwe I cannot confirm all the points you mention, but I can confirm, that, probably since last autumn (not sure), about 250 video files (MP4 and AVI) that used to be accessible as expected via Daminion (and also showed Thumbnails) etc., they all show up as broken / corrupt (broken chain icon). Daminion sais they're missing/offline, but they are not. Removing those entries from the file list in Daminion simply causes those entries to be recreated next time/next scan. Recreating thumbnail fails too. I suspect corrupt SQL data in the datase. But in any case, quite an odd issue, that never happened in the many years before. cheers Denis, not sure that 'helps' Quote
aebe_ch Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 But I (also) do more and more question the quality of Daminion products/manuals etc. - for example, on this forum website, if one has forgotten the password, how would one retrieve it pls ? I tried in most browser, and with the Developer Console (software engineer here), but that security check seems broken, and I wonder for how long, and if anybody at Daminion frequently does quality assurance, here, or elsewhere... aebe_ch Posted May 8 Report Posted May 8 Hi Uwe, sorry for my late reply. I use Version Daminion Server Administration Panel. Version: 10.5.0.3797 Quote
Uwe Posted May 8 Author Report Posted May 8 update regarding build 3804: there are still existing the bugs: Copy Tags and corrupted mp4 items. I didn't test other functions because of frustration. I went back to 3788 - the lesser of two evils. Regards, Uwe Quote
