Face recognition - merging catalogs, will faces be imported?

Dear fellow Daminion user, 

in order to get the Face Recognition done faster and more accurate, I requested Facial Recognition for certain folders, until this will be available, I was thinking of a workaround.

 

Would it work, if I create a NEW Catalog and only attach one folder or, e.g. the folders from my mother's side of the family and then sit down with that part of the family to assign the people to the photos and then import them into the main catalog? Will the faces aka person be imported?

 

The big pro would be, to have less server load, server can scan only the 5000 photos in those folders instead of 200000 photos in main catalog and I can more accurately assign faces because I know which persons might show up and who might not.

Hi Rene, 

 

Unfortunately, this approach may not work properly - you would need to import the files, then copy the midsize preview folder, thumbnail folder and faces previews folder and merge it with the original catalog. However, I have not tested this approach myself. 

 

@Oleg.Rosswill this approach work or would you advice against it?

Hey Daria,

I just wanted to get the face regocnition done but scanning over 200000 files and assigning faces even brings my 16gb ram server to it's limits

Hi Rene, please try activating FR overnight and stop when you are doing other tasks during the day. What's your current Daminion version btw?
