Processing large TIFF files

HI all,

I use Daminion to manage my photos on both digital camera and scanned films. I love it.

There are several questions I would like to ask, if anyone could help.

1) As mentioned before I use it to manage my scanned films, all scanned with VueScan, from 135, 120 to 4x5. I have problem on writing tags (e.g. copyright statement) to 120 or 4x5. These files are very large and for some of them are 1.5GB in size. It will cause a crash and said I have insufficient memory to complete the task. I done it on a HP Microserver with 16GB RAM.

2) I can't download the standalone version from google drive, from your link. Please fix it.

3)I try to update the vips library, dcraw come with your package, it seems a bit old, any plan to update it? (After update, it still works fine).

Hi Erio,

1 - could you please send us one file for tests at support\at\daminion\dot\net?

Btw, what version of Daminion are you using?

2 - The latest official standalone version can be downloaded here or here

Please make sure you have an active upgrades period (Help > Daminion Registratons > Free upgrades until)

3 - We've been having soe issuew with large TIFFs for soe time, I'll pass along this information to our developer guys.

Kind regards,

Daria

Hi Daria,

Sorry for the late reply. The sample for you to test is a scanned large format photo of 4x5. I make it a raw scan of 64bit with alpha chaanel, 3200 dpi so it is very large in size (1.4GB).

4x5 Scanning

I use the latest daminion 1785, with updated VIPS (v.864) and exiftools (v.1106). I update the VIPS and exiftools as I want to see if the problem just caused by outdated plugin, not daminion itself but no luck.

Yes, I can import also, and I can update metadata. But sometimes it would halt. I had reported the issue several times. Not sure if any problems there. I hope my Tiff could help you to solve the handleing issue. Waiting for next version.
