Issues in Creation Time (1733)

I was on vacation in France last week, but I had forgotten to adjust my camera's clock from EET to CET. I thought this was not a problem as I could shift the time in Daminion. I had created a temporary local catalog for the images as I didn't have access to my NAS. When I imported the images into my main catalog I noticed that the creation time was the original time from my camera, not the corrected one.

 

When I investigated the issue I found three different times in the metadata:

– The CR2 file creation time in GMT (having a 2 second difference)

– EXIF Modify date in CR2 (the original time from camera)

– XMP Date created in the sidecar .xmp file (the corrected time)

 

It seems that when adding files to catalog Daminion takes the EXIF Modify date from CR2 and not the updated time from the accompanying XMP.

Also if I do "Read tags from file", I get the original creation time back.

Hi Juha,

 

This is, unfortunately, a know and still unfixed issue = #4626

 

Would it work for you to copy XMP:Date Created to EXIF:Modifydate by means of exiftool? (as temporal workaround)

I'll do that. I need also check if there are some older files I have modified and the timestamps don't match.

I decided to issue

exiftool -AllDates-=1:00 *.CR2

so I get also the other timestamps fixed to right time zone.
