Deleting a custom tag

Hi!

I started to play around with custom tags and found a confusing message. When I delete a custom tag, I get a warning. I interpret the text that the custom tag will be also deleted from the file, but it's only deleted from my catalog. Even if I write the tags to file, the custom tag still remains in the image file.

Hello Juha,

the message is incorrect. When deleting a custom tag from within Daminion it should not be deleted from file's metadata. Becuase in multi-user environment a custom tag created by you can be accidentally deleted by your colleague. In this case you can recreate a custom tag and read its values from file.

Kind regards,

Daria

I was playing with Custom Tags too (as you know from other post) and I ad the same issue. I found that th only way to clean it out was to:

1. Highlight all the images with the custom tag

2. Remove the tag in the properties panel

3. Then delete category

It works but it is unintuitive.

I can understand the issue about different users playing tag wars, but surely there should be an option for an admin to be able to delete from catalog and file in one action, especially if it was protected by a warning and confirmation prompt?
