It's been more than a month since our last Daminion update. But Daminion Team worked hard and a new Daminion 2.0 is available to download and testing. This version contains a lot of bug fixes and improvements. Please forgive my English, the blog version of the below list of improvements will be proofreaded by our professional copyrighter :)

 

This version is not completely tested yet so please use it with your test image libraries before.

 

Improved Export

• Now Daminion can preserve image metadata while exporting images.
  
• It’s possible to export images to sRGB profile or preserve a source image ICC profile
  
• Export preset editor that allows you to customize your export transformation presets
  
• A detailed report will be displayed if something will happen during exporting
  

 

Lock Import Settings

Some import settings (file and folder naming rules, a way of importing) can be locked by administrator

(“Catalog > Import Settings”)

 

User based User Interface customization

Now interface settings are stored inside the catalog individually for each user so you can see your customizations by logging in from any computer.

 

Experimental. Dropbox integration

This experimental feature allows you to share your images with various devices like Tablets, Macs, Mobiles or Web. For example, you can select 50 Camera RAW images, drag them to a tag named Publish\Dropbox\MyIPADPresentation and all your images will be converted to an iPAD friendly JPEG format with 2000px resolution and can be located in the Dropbox\ MyIPADPresentation. All image conversion and image optimizations will be performed on the fly. To remove an image just clear this tag. Publishing process will be under your control: you will see what images were published and where.

Please take into account that this is an experimental feature to collect a feedback. To activate this feature go to the main menu: Help > Experimental > Create Publish Panel. Take a look at this small video demonstrating the dropbox addon in action and don’t forget to share your feedback (no matter, negative or positive):

Added 15k limitation to Daminion Standalone version

Daminion’s test period is over, however you still can continue use Daminion for free but with some limitation: you can maximally import 15k files per one catalog. You can increase this limit by various methods.

 

Our active contributors are eligible to receive free Daminion Standalone licenses. Each case will be considered individually – please contact us by a method that you used already to communicate with us.

• Now Daminion can search through tag parents (even if they are not directly assigned to the files) in the following tags: Folders, Keywords, Categories, People, Place, Event. For example, searching by “plant” now finds all images that were directly assigned to the “plants\oak” keyword (but not to the “plants” keywords)
