fhahn
I have some bitmap (*.bmp) files in my Daminion catalog. I have added information and I tried to write an XMP file for several of these images. I thought the XMP file would be created in the same directory as the image but I did not see it. Where would these files be created? I am using the home server version (3.4) of Daminion. Thanks. Frank Hahn
Uwe
Hello Frank, XMP sidecar files will be written for RAW files only. But there is a feature request to write XMP files in any case if the original files don't support XMP metadata like BMP, MP3, FLAC, TXT... Murat
Uwe is right, .xmp side car files can be created for Camera RAW images or Video Files only.
fhahn
Thanks for the replies. If Daminion is not actually writing data, shouldn't the software just pop up a window saying that XMP files are not supported for this file type. What had me confused is that an actual progress bar pops up on the screen making it look like something was actually happening. Also, is there documentation that explains this so I don't have to ask questions like this? Thanks. Frank Hahn
Uwe
Hello Frank, even if you don't have a XMP sidecar file you don't lose the information you entered for the BMP file. They are in the Daminion catalog database. In the preferences is explained/customized that XMP files belong to RAW/video files only.
