Uwe
Hi Murat, I made a video - it's on my FTP folder. The name is: Daminion_930_error_ExifTool.wmv Please watch this video and see that there is no error messsage in the ExifTool when I made the first modification of the DateTimeOriginal. Then I entered some Tags in Daminion and made the same modification of DateTimeOriginal in the ExifTool. Now I get this error. I'm not sure if this pointer error leads to a situation that I can't read the photos anymore. This is for me a very high priority. The camera is a Nikon Coolpix 510. The media format is JPG. I never had such an error before with other cameras. Regards, Uwe
rene
Hey Uwe, did you hit the checkbox preserve file creation time in the preference menu?
Murat
Is the problem reproducible if you'll omit the first image modification of the DateTimeOriginal by the ExifTool.
Uwe
Hi Murat, yes it is reproducible. I entered and saved only the Title tag without to change the DateTimeOriginal or any other metadata by the ExifTool before. Then I used the ExifTool to change the DateTimeOriginal and got the error. But the error message is different compared to the first one. Regards, Uwe Update 27.12.2013: I don't have this problem with JPG of my Canon camera
Uwe
Hello, I made some tests with JPG of other Nikon cameras. Nikon Coolpix P510 - error Nikon D90 - no error Nikon D5000 - error Nikon D7000 - error error means: I get the error message in the ExifTool if I assigned a tag in Daminion before I changed e.g. the EXIF:DateTimeOriginal by the ExifTool. Uwe
Hello, I found this: http://u88.n24.queensu.ca/exiftool/forum/index.php?topic=2124.0 As recommended I used this command line: -exif:all= -tagsfromfile @ -exif:all -compressedbitsperpixel -ycbcrpositioning in the ExifTool GUI And now I can change the DateTimeOriginal. But what does it mean? Did I lose metadata? Regards, Uwe
Murat
Uwe, don't worry about loosing metadata - it shouldn't corrupt your metadata. But we need some time to investigate into this issue.
