EXIF data from XMP-Sidecars into files themselves

Hey folks,

I have a few folder from my recent vacation with xmp-sidecars (I forgot to turn on the function to write this exif data into the files itself. How can I do it now. It would be great if Daminion could copy these exif files into the picture files and delete the sidecars afterwards.

thank you

Hi Rene,

all "important" information of the XMP files should be in the Daminion catalog but not all. I guess you have the parameter "Write tags to sidecar .xmp files (except DNG format) active. What happens when you select the parameter "Write tags into EXIF/IPTC/XMP (very slow)? Then you have to use the function "Write Tags to File".

The other way is to use the ExifTool.

E.g.

Restore all XMP tags from an XMP sidecar file to XMP in a JPG image:

exiftool -tagsfromfile SRC.xmp -all:all DST.jpg

http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/metafiles.html

Then delete the XMP with File Explorer Tool.

It's worth to test it.

Regards, Uwe
