Moving media files to a new server / new drive

This is my setup:

I have all my media files on a network file server (a NAS that I access over the LAN).

I have my Daminion catalogue on my local computer.

I am now moving all my media files to a new server. (The old server will remain though, but without media files.) There could be many reasons for this, for example if you outgrow the server.

The issue:

How do I get the catalogue to find the files on the new server?

Or putting it another way, how do I change the path for the images.

(For obvious reasons it is impossible to do this on a file-by-file basis.)

Hello Per-BKWine,

both ways are possible. You can do it for the folder: right click on the folder->Relink Folder AND item by item: right click on the item->Actions OR Action button on the right upper corner of the thumbnail->Relink item...

Regards, Uwe

Hi Per!

The first step is to backup your existing catalog (I guess you use Daminion Server version):

"Administration panel > Catalogs > Backup"

After that, you can select the root folder in your Tags tree, right click, go to "Relink Folder" menu and point to a new root of your files (on a new server PC)

Update: Uwe was faster than me and already answered you )

Thanks Uwe and Murat! Really appreciate you lightning fast feedback.

Tried and had a crash of the application. Will have to try again in a few days' time since I'm in a conference in Italy for the next few days.

(If ever you come past Paris it would be nice meeting you!)

Will be back in a few days' time.

/Per
