Picasa Face Import by using AvPicFaceXmpTagger

But can't this be included in daminion, so Daminion could do that

Yeah, it would way better than editing batch files.

I thought that it's not a big thing to copy some tags from another tag group at import or rescan. I mean, Daminion is already using exiftool to read the tags, or no? So it's just one option more.

We added support for reading MWG Region Faces. So starting from the next update your Picasa faces will be imported to Daminion. Without headaches with command line and exiftool...

But you need to write Picasa faces to XMP using "Tools > Experimental > Write Faces..."

Thank you!

Of course, it's default. :)

Steps to migrate your Picasa faces (people) to Daminion People:

1. Launch Picasa and go to the Tools > Experimental > Write faces to XMP

2. Locate and select appropriate images in Daminion

3. Right click and navigate to the Actions > Write Tags to File

4. Right click and navigate to the Actions > Read Tags from File

Now all your Picasa faces should appear as Daminion Peoples.

The step #3 prevents you from lossing the unsaved tags after invoking the "Read Tags from File" command

Hm, it's not working here either.

There is no People at all in Daminion after the Read tags from file function.

But the correct data is there in the Metadata Viewer (at Region Name) if I use Show All Metadata... function (and the exiftool tag copying command is working without a problem, too).

I tried with more images, no luck.

It works in the DEBUG version, sorry. We forgot to include it to the Release build.

Mammut, you sent a very good sample image: it contains multiple people names including hierarchy.

For other Daminion users: if you'll separate people names with "|" symbol their hierarchy will be visible by Daminion.

Hey Murat,

since I have such an amount of images, it would be nice, to have daminion checking in the background for new people names.

that would save me a lot of time, since I don't need to take 5000 pictures mark them and click on read from file. Remember I have 120k of images

still trying to get it to work

Just select your root folder in your Folders and press F6 (Rescan Folders). This will check all your images for changes and import new ones or reflect for outside metadata changes.

A new version with working "Import from Regions:Faces" feature will be available today on the forum.
