Uwe
Hello, there are 4 custom tags in the item with different formats (text, fractional integer and time). I've deleted the custom tag and got the information that the tag will be removed from the file in the catalog. But the tags are not removed from the file itself Bug? Now I've tried to delete the value "1" of the integer tag in the Properties Window and got a client exception 675_client_exception.txt After the client restart I don't see the custom tags deleted before but they are still in the file and neither by a new import nor by rescan I get them back in the catalog. Mammut
Maybe do we need a "Delete all Custom Tags from file" menu option? I'm thinking that there could be some global settings for Custom Tags. It's Catalog-based now, as I see, and we need to build them from scratch in every Catalogs. It's too easy to make mistakes (I never tried this but let's say forget to set it to hierarchical or something). What if we Move a file to another Catalog and we made a mistake, there will be tag errors in the file, and we can clean those errors? Murat
I've deleted the custom tag and got the information that the tag will be removed from the file in the catalog. But the tags are not removed from the file itself. Bug? The message is wrong a little bit. It should be corrected to: "Do you want to delete the selected tag?" "All information about this tag will removed the catalog" To remove the custom tags information you need to create a new custom tag with the same name and assign an empty value to this tag in all files where these custom tags were added/changed. Then switch auto-sync on or write tags into the metadata. This will remove custom tags with empty values from the XMP. Automatic deletion custom tags from all files in the catalog (after deletion of the tag from the catalog) might leads to some issue: - There might be another catalog with the same custom tag that contains part of the files from our catalog. - Removing custom tags might take a long time for large catalogs May be there should be a third button in the warning message that forces deletion of the custom tags? But this will works only at the moment of deleting a custom tag. The option that Mammut suggested can delete all tags but what if we need to delete just one custom tag information? We'll think about this issue and get back to this problem soon. Now I've tried to delete the value "1" of the integer tag in the Properties Window and got a client exception This error will be fixed. Thanks for the info! The properties panel had old entries that pointed to deleted custom tags.
Mammut
To remove the custom tags information you need to create a new custom tag with the same name and assign an empty value to this tag in all files where these custom tags were added/changed. There could be a feature to build up custom tags from a file? Daminion could create them at import or rescan. It would be easier.
Uwe
Hello Murat, To remove the custom tags information you need to create a new custom tag with the same name and assign an empty value to this tag in all files where these custom tags were added/changed. Then switch auto-sync on or write tags into the metadata. This will remove custom tags with empty values from the XMP. --> I guess this can be done by delete the value of this custom tag in the Properties Window. One has to select the regarding items before. Automatic deletion custom tags from all files in the catalog (after deletion of the tag from the catalog) might leads to some issue: - There might be another catalog with the same custom tag that contains part of the files from our catalog. --> Does it bring us back to the "Move" discussion? - Removing custom tags might take a long time for large catalogs --> can be done over night Regards, Uwe
