rene
Dear Community, today I'm doing some heavy work on assigning places to my photos and geo Locations: I noted something though. Sometimes Daminion create duplicate Places. e.g. (normal) United States of America Florida Cape Coral Boat House sometimes Daminion creates this: "United States of America Florida Cape Coral Boat House" this means I end up with heaving two places. Am I doing something wrong? How can i avoid it? thank you!

How can i avoid it I ran into this quite a while ago, but never reported it yet (sorry 😔) The reason is, if one of the tags contains a comma ( , ) and you use autocomplete to select a previously entered text in the pull-down menu, the Daminion client surrounds it with double quotes. This is specially nasty, if that happens for a place: The first double quote is leading the country and the other at the end of the Location. WilfriedB
So, how you can avoid it? Just avoid commas in all texts! Even though, your example does not show any comma, I am sure this was the original reason, Rene.
WilfriedB
Here is an example for the places. The lower address in blue is correct, but for the upper address, I used a comma earlier for another item. If I would select it, Daminion autocomplete would create a "new country" called "Germany (including the double quote at the beginning), which appears in a different place on the tag tree. rene
Thank you Wilfried, I will check my Places for commas, but I don't remember to have them in there

This entry will still appear in the suggestion list.

WilfriedB
Glad to here Rene! 😊 Might be useful now, to run a search for "hidden" double quotes:
