During importing of files into a catalog, Daminion offers the option to "Create categories from Folder Names".

For files which are already cataloged, is there any was to initiate this function to create categories from folder names?

Thanks!

Hi, you can go one of two ways:

1 - reimport the files and select the option create the categories.

2 - export all files with absent categories to csv - I recommend to do this folder by folder.

- select a folder

- ctrl+A to seelct its contents

- Export to csv

- checkonly item ID

- edit the resulted file and add a new tag Categories, then copy the part of the file path which yu want to be transformed into the categories. Don't forget about commas to separate tag values

- Import the csv file by File > Import > Import from csv and map Categories

This way may be more cumbersome than just reimporting files (you need to remove them from catalog first). If you decide to go this way, don't forget to create a backup of a copy of your catalogs first.

Kind regards,

Daria
