mrwang Posted July 21, 2015 Report Posted July 21, 2015 Hello, i am a new user of the Daminion Server/Client my setup is the following: Media (images/videos) --> located on Mac harddrive. Daminion Server ---> running on a Parallels virtual machine with windows 7 Daminien Client ---> running on a Notebook in the same network (windows 7) The Media folder is shared to the servers virtual machine via Parallels shared folder function. My problem: When i use the client to view picures there is no problem. The server seems to stream the images to the client (thumbnails and fullview)but when i open an image in MS paint or an other application i get the error "file is offline or not available" The client does not have a direct access to the files because the parallels shares are only accesable from the virtual machine. Is there a way so solve this without having to copy the media archive to the server? I would wish the daminion server to forward the files from the source location to the clients even if the clients have no direct access to the network ressources. Best regards Wang Quote

Best regards Wang I solved the problem by using the mac osx samba file sharing, which is a lot slower than the shares from the virtual machine but it is running. Quote
Murat Posted August 4, 2015 Report Posted August 4, 2015 Can you try to install Daminion Server on a Windows PC in your local network and import files from your Mac by network refs. And then compare the performance: Daminion Server on Windows PC and Files on a the Mac PC VS Daminion Server on the Parallels and Files on a the Mac PC shared via Samba Quote
