How do I wrie metadata to XMP or DNG?

I've tried to search for this, but the three-character limitation of the forum software has prevented me from doing so. How do I write metadata changes back to the actual DNG file or, for other formats, to an XMP sidecar file? I have not found anything in the documentation.

Daminion writes to DNG format and to xmp sidecars of other RAW images by default. Your tags can be written into the metadata automatically (when Auto-Sync is turned on) after each tag assignment or manually, by Item > Write Tags to File command.
