Russell
Hi Murat and fellow Daminions, Like many photographers, my camera can capture both JPG and RAW files simultaneously. It would be nice if the catalog only showed me one of the files (probably the JPG) and then any tags or associations I make to that file could automatically happen to the other file as well. (No point in seeing all these duplicate images in my catalog). As part of this, if I were to "Open" or "Checkout" a file, it'd be nice to choose which one. :-) Thanks, Russell
Murat
We received similar requests to handle RAW + JPEGs from other users, although I keep an approach to convert my RAW images to DNG format, to avoid storing and maintaining multiple versions of the same file including .xmp sidecars for storing metadata. BTW we plan to add DNG converter to the Camera Downloader soon. While implementing versions/stacks requires some time and there are some tasks in our feature lists preceding these features we can offer the next way to handle RAW + JPEG combination: To consider JPEG file as part of the RAW image and do not import it if a RAW file with the same basename is existed on the same folder. And use JPEG image to preview (and optionally to store metadata? instead of the .xmp sidecar).
