[email protected]
HI Murat - just playing around with the latest beta build and noticed that the keywords property hover isn't working after adding a new keyword to the image unless you change the image and go back. The keyword itself appears after a few seconds (DNG image) but the hover to see the hierarchy doesn't work until you move back and forth between images.. Nice build by the way! Suggestion: I like the recently assigned tags panel.. though I think it could be improved and enhanced perhaps down the road. One suggestion would be to include the whole hierarchy in the list and not just on hover - might not be an issue for most but the beauty of hierarchical keywords is it allows the same tag to be applied in many different levels... so if I have the tag 'Mike' - that could be listed 4 times in my list but refer to 4 different people (Person->Family->Green->Mike or Person->Friends->Jones->Mike)... seeing the full list or even a few levels would make a huge difference (perhaps an option to include the full hierarchy or not?). Secondly, I would like to see this panel taken to another level by allowing users to define Keyword Sets (ala Idimager and LR) - this would allow users to quickly see just those tags that might pertain to what they are labeling - an event, a trip, daily life, etc... if not that fancy to allow multiple sets to be created, then at least the option to define one set with those keywords you want - not just the most recently used (which will change based on your last session). I use this all the time in Idimager and think it is a super feature! Also, was curious where a GPS tagging feature is in the scheme of development? One of the major issues with Idimager is the lack of a dedicated and built-in GPS/mapping feature... LR recently added it and is works really well - I think Daminion could set itself apart by including something ala LR instead of forcing users to use 3rd party apps like geosetter (which I currently must do with Idimager). Anyway... things are progressing REALLY nicely and I plan to use Daminion more and more often now... so thanks again for your hard work and all the beta builds! - Andy. Murat
HI Murat - just playing around with the latest beta build and noticed that the keywords property hover isn't working after adding a new keyword to the image unless you change the image and go back. This was be fixed in the 597 version Suggestion: I like the recently assigned tags panel.. though I think it could be improved and enhanced perhaps down the road. This could be added optionally although in case of the large number of hierarchical level the text will be long and truncated. For example, Architecture and Buildings \ Commercial Buildings \ Interior Business \ Business Situations \ Meeting Anyway, added this to the feature list.. I use this all the time in Idimager and think it is a super feature! This might be implemented in the future. Thanks for the suggestion! Some minor improvements can be added soon while developer-time-consuming features can be added only after implementing Custom Tags and User Roles. Could you please list your requirements (other users might join to the discussion) for built-in GPS geotagging feature for Daminion?
Mammut
Could you please list your requirements (other users might join to the discussion) for built-in GPS geotagging feature for Daminion? Daminion's own built-in map would be great. With pinned image groups on the locations if we zoom in. :) I think it would be the best if we can set points and a radius of circle, too, for larger locations, like cities. [email protected]
Thx Murat... I would mirror Mammut's suggestion - something like what Lightroom has seems to fit the bill nicely. I can select images (from the main window or thumbstrip) and open another window for the GPS module (dual screen support would be nice but not a must). Drag/drop images to points on the map (or within a radius as Mammut suggests) and then the system would apply the geo settings and reverse location lookup data to the images. A symbol on the thumbnail to indicate GPS activity would be a nice touch as well. Anything that allows us to assign GPS coords and reverse lookup items automatically (such as sublocation, city, state, etc) would go a long way to avoid the need for products like geosetter and hopping in and out of applications. Thx! - Andy.
