Shadewalker
Looked thru the Daminion Help concerning searching. Did not find the answers I was looking for. Curious if there is a page somewhere with a short explanation/description of how each search field works/functions? For example, I am searching for certain folders that start with Train_ (There are many folders that start with Train_, such as Train_Caboose Train_Locomotives Train_Boxcars I want to find all of them, so I selected folders, picked "Starts with" and input "Train_" (Without the parentheses) Search came back empty! O_0 Should I change my search term to "Contains", then I get all kinds of folders that don't even have trains in as the search is returning folders that also have "_" in their name. I understand that.. However, I cannot figure what definition the "Starts with" is looking/wanting. If there was a short explanation of how the different search terms/choices work, it would help me be able to build my searches more efficiently, as I am guessing wildly as to how certain of the fields work/compute their results.. Thank you! :-)
WilfriedB
I am searching for certain folders that start with Train_ Did you try to specify the full path (or the path relative to the Daminion catalog...??)? It seems to me, the term "folder" is used here in the sense of "path". When I search for starts with: D:\My Photos\2017\12\06 it returns the correct results, but neither searching "\My Photos\2017\12\06\" nor "My Photos\2017" shows anything. Interestingly D:\My Photos\2017\12\06\ also does not work (06 is the lowest level folder in my example), while it works fine when I remove the last backslash (\) . But I agree with you, using Saved Searches is always trial and error with many unexpected results.
Shadewalker
Yes,"Matches exactly" really should be changed from Folder to Path,,(My thought on that is, if I knew the exact path, I would not be running a folder search! haha) Oh well, I'll keep experimenting. WilfriedB
...,"Matches exactly" really should be ... What I said above applies to "Starts with". Anyway, seems you are better of using Windows search to find the exact paths.
