pee3.14
Hi, Does anybody know how to export Daminion data base structure including categories with their hierarchy and references to image files? THanks!
Murat
There are 2 ways: 1. Via XMP metadata. You can sync your tags with metadata manually (Item > Actions > Write Tags to File), or automatically (via the Sync button). After that all your tags including hierarchial categories will be saved in the XMP section of your images and any program that understands XMP can read it. 2. Via CSV file. Select files, and go to Export > to CSV
pee3.14
Murat, My files have already had hierarchical tags assigned by PicaJet. I relocated the images after import into Daminion and then Synched them by Writing Tags to File. The relocation was reflected In SupplementalCategories only. hierarchicalSubject and all other relevant sections like "subject" did not reflect new tags. Please advise. Thank you
Murat
Did you relocated categories or image files itself? By default Daminion writes tags into XMP section of files only. You can force writing them into EXIF/IPTC section too by turning the "Add compatibility with Windows ..." option in Writing Preferences section of Edit > Preferences. And then check the result via Item > Actions > Show All Metadata
pee3.14
I relocated just categories. Originally, there was a sub-tree of two categories, Auto then Misc under it. I moved Auto under a new category Photograps, which formed a tree Photograps Auto Misc Then I synched the files and XMP keyword/hierarchy section looks like this now: Last Keyword IPTC Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs Last Keyword XMP Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs Hierarchical Subject Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs Subject Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs which doesn't seem to reflect the new hierarchy. Murat
Can you please check the "Photographs\Auto\Misc" category, select all found files, right click and go to Actions > Write tags to File. This will force writing tags into the metadata. Then check the result via Actions > Show All Metadata.
pee3.14
Ran this procedure. Please compare XMP and IPTC sections after that: ---- XMP ---- XMP Toolkit XMP Core 5.4.0 Creator Tool PicaJet FX Metadata Date 2015:09:10 11:43:23+03:00 ICC Profile Name sRGB IEC61966-2.1 Lens 7-22mm Photographic Sensitivity 0 Last Keyword IPTC Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs Last Keyword XMP Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs Hierarchical Subject Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs Subject Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs ---- IPTC ---- Coded Character Set UTF8 Application Record Version 4 Supplemental Categories Photographs|Auto|Misc Keywords Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc, Photographs Originally pictures had this hierarchy: "Auto, Auto|Misc, Misc" generated by PicaJet export
