rsmith1
I have usually imported DNG files into Daminion, but I just imported a set of JPEG files for a project. It appears that Daminion did not read the rating from the XMP data. The rating is seen by every other program I have used (FastPictureViewer, Photoshop, PhotoNinja, even Windows File Explorer). This is the raw XMP data as retrieved by Photoshop: <rdf:Description rdf:about="" xmlns:xmp="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/"> <xmp:Label/> <xmp:MetadataDate>2014-01-19T14:17:57-06:00</xmp:MetadataDate> <xmp:Rating>1.000000</xmp:Rating> <xmp:CreateDate>2014-01-18T19:14:13.670000064</xmp:CreateDate> <xmp:CreatorTool>Photo Ninja 1.2.1</xmp:CreatorTool> <xmp:ModifyDate>2014-01-19T14:17:57-06:00</xmp:ModifyDate> </rdf:Description> I assume that Daminion should import the ratings in this case, so I guess this is a bug. I have not found any setting that would alter this. I have confirmed that Daminion is happy to write ratings to these files, but even a manual Sync | Read Tags from File will not cause the rating shown above to be read. Murat
I suspect that there are two Rating entries in your file (you can check it by viewing it using any text editor). Could you please also send me it for analyzing?
rsmith1
Murat: Here is a sample file whose 1 star rating is not imported into Daminion. As far as I can see, these are the only ratings tags in the XMP: <rdf:Description rdf:about="" xmlns:xmp="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/"> <xmp:Label/> <xmp:MetadataDate>2014-01-21T09:12:07-06:00</xmp:MetadataDate> <xmp:Rating>1.000000</xmp:Rating> <xmp:CreateDate>2014-01-18T19:30:17.15999984</xmp:CreateDate> <xmp:CreatorTool>Photo Ninja 1.2.1</xmp:CreatorTool> <xmp:ModifyDate>2014-01-21T09:12:07-06:00</xmp:ModifyDate> </rdf:Description> <rdf:Description rdf:about="" xmlns:MicrosoftPhoto="http://ns.microsoft.com/photo/1.0"> <MicrosoftPhoto:Rating>1</MicrosoftPhoto:Rating> </rdf:Description>
Murat
Randall, thanks for the photo and the XMP block. The Rating value should be Integer according to the XMP specification while MWG specification allows float Rating values. We fixed this issue. And now Daminion can import float Rating values from the XMP:Rating field.
rsmith1
Great! Thanks, Murat. I look forward to giving it a try.
rsmith1
I want to close this topic off by confirming that build 951 imports my ratings despite being floating point values. Thanks to Murat and the rest of the Daminion team for the quick fix on this.
