Import from Photoshop Element

I would like to import a PSE9 catalog.

1. Is there a way do it directly and not loose the metadata.

2. Alternatively, I can get PSE to save the metadata as picture keywords but is there a easy way to convert keywords into daminion tags. For example how can I "teach" Daminion that the tag "John Smith" is a person ?

 

(One way I know off is to create a people tag called "John Smith" then select all the pictures with the keyword "John Smith" and assign to the them the people tag "John Smith". But can this be automated ?
