Timezone in metadata - a feature request

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am working with Daminion standalone version 1.0.0.816.

I imported *.jpg files (which contain only EXIF metadata) into the database , assigned 1 keyword and wrote it back into the image. They were written as expected defined by the preferences.

Daminion also wrote IPTC:Date Created, IPTC:Time Created and also XMP-Photoshop:Date Created.

For the time values it took the values from EXIF - this is all ok - and added as timezone-value the value of my local system which fits to the EXIF time values.

But I have pictures taken in Germany and also Pictures taken in Singapure.

For pictures taken in Germany the timezone values are ok, because my system is in Germany.

But also for the pictures taken in Singapure the time-with-timezone value is e.g. 15:16:17+02:00.

It should be 15:16:17+08:00, because of the timezone of Singapure.

So please enhance Daminion that it will be possible to define the value of the timezone to be entered.

Please write this to the list of planned features.

Thanks in advance.

Herb

Hello,

Can you send me a photo taken in Singapure?

I think that we have a misunderstanding at the moment.

Of course can I send you an image taken in Singapure, but this does not help you.

As I wrote the image only contains EXIF metadata and all date/time values inside EXIF do not contain a timezone value.

Timezone value comes into play, when Daminion first time adds IPTC and/or XMP metadata.

Date/time values are read from EXIF - this is ok - and Daminion adds to time a timezone value read from settings of local windows system.

I asked for a possibility to tell Daminion which timezone value should be added.

Best regards

Herb

My apologizes, probably I read your original post too fast. We need some time to decide a way of the best implementation this.

Perhaps it will be better to tie the TimeZone info with the Place tag to avoid dealing with changing settings for each file? I'll discuss about this feature with our team on the upcoming Monday.
