Saving/Clearing tags

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question, but how do I actually save to or clear a tag from a file?

My original photo management programme was Microsoft Digital Image 2006 and that did everything I needed, except I found it was self creating spurious keywords eg it would combine a place category with a people keyword and add that to the metadata.

That programme was based around Windows Explorer, so all my photos are saved under directories representing the highest level category eg Holidays > 2008 or Family > Children etc.

I am quite happy with that arangement but obviously want to add meaningfull keywords

On Daminion when I import one of those directories to a catelogue, I do so as a copy because I don't want to create a new directory. The previously assigned tags are bought in, however a lot of these are incorrect.

I then removed all the incorrect keywords and added new ones, but the files are not physically updated.

What am I doing wrong?

Tags in Daminion catalogs and image metadata can be synced by two ways:

- Manually. Select some images, right click, "Actions > Write Tags to Metadata"

- Automatically. Switch the Auto-Sync option On. You can do this by the button on the right side of the toolbar (near the Export Button)

You can then check what metadata your image contains by "Actions > Show All Metadata"
