Because of the tag description (build 1934)

Recommended Posts

The tag description will not be shown in the catalog tags panel. (left side)

Now I have a spelling error in the saved description tags.

How can I delete this error?

Egon, I'm not sure, I understand your problem.

Just guessing:
Since the Description tag does not appear in the Tags tree, you don't know, how to find all items having a certain typo in the Description. Is this your problem?

Can you provide a screen shot?

Not exactly.

I have saved a description for a file. After saving I noticed, that I have a spelling error in the tag description.
I have corrected the value.
And now I think that the wrong entry is still existing, just without a reference to a file. (see keyword tag without a reference.jpg)
And now my question: How can I delete this wrong entry in the tag description.

OK, now I understood:

  1. Select the wrong entry in the Tags tree
  2. Right click the entry (or press the Delete key and go to step 4)
  3. Select Delete

  4. Confirm the message:

Hello WilfriedB,

for other tags, such as project or keyword I realize that.
But the tag description does not exist in the tag panel. (left side)
And so I can not select and delete the entry. That's exactly the problem.

So, you see the wrong description in the Properties panel? That means it is still assigned to one or more media items and you just need correct it for each of those items.

Thank you for the quick response.

I can't see the wrong description in the properties panel, because I corrected the wrong description.
But I think that the wrong entry is still existing in the catalog, just without a reference to a file.
And when I add a new description to a file it's possible, that daminion suggests the wrong value to me.
I hope I have expressed myself clearly.

Egon, this is exactly the difference between tags which can appear in the Tags tree (Keywords, Categories, ...) and tags such as Description, Title ... which cannot. If you changed all items having such a wrong Description, it is not stored permanently anymore, but still appears in the suggestions for a limited time.

To make sure, you did change all, you can use the Advanced search as in this example:

It should result in "No items match your search criteria".

However, the fact that Daminion might still suggest the faulty entry when you start typing, cannot be changed, as far as I know. But it will disappear after a short while.

You're welcome, Egon 🙂

According to my experience with Daminion, I believe, it remembers the last 10 input phrases for the Auto-complete function of Description, Title, Comment and all other tags which cannot appear in the tags tree.

Hello,

there is the file "history.bin" in the folder: c:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Daminion Software\Daminion\1.0\

It seems that there ist the history of your input in the Title and Description tag. Not sure - please check it.

regards, Uwe

Thanks, Uwe. Very likely true, I did find some of my recently used values there.  But I would not recommend trying to modify that file. Since it contains binary values, you might produce any kinds of errors.
