  1. I'm astonished to see backslashes in your file path (Windows, right?). Smacks of Linux. Try renaming "Bahnhof Naumburg" to Bahnhof_Naumburg or camelcase BahnhofNaumburg to kill the space. Perhaps also for "eigene Bilder". (I personally avoid spaces and diacriticals as in ä or é…) Try directly typing the search path into the box, using slashes / or escaped backslashes: \\ Try quoting the path: "D:\ eigene … Naumburg", or with single quotes 'D: … Naumburg'. Of course it should work without having to jump through these hoops, but it could reveal the nature of the problem. Good luck! And then Lok's would be a genitive, as in "Werther's Leiden", not a plural. Just pulling your leg, Egon. 😉
  2. Tests done (creating catalog with preceding version). I made a series of pictures in TIFF, PNG and PSD formats, in sizes ranging from 1000x1000 to 16,000x16,000 in steps of roughly sqrt(2) so the pixel count doubles. TIFF: no problem; PNG: limit of 8000x8000, no thumbnail generated after that; PSD: I got errors with the bigger files, then Daminion froze (and I had to kill it with the task manager), but restarting and trying multiple times with only one file at a time I finally got all the thumbnails, phew! Here's the error message: My (admittedly uneducated) guess is that Daminion, being a 32-bit application, hits memory limits when decompressing and simultaneously generating thumbnails from PNG or PSD. Perhaps it uses ImageMagick for that, while the TIFF files get processed with libvips? As for JP2 (JPEG2000), it's not a format recognized by Daminion, so no tests but I could use Wilfried's hack.
  3. Hello WilfriedB, Thanks for the tip. I'm no Pythonista, but I think I'll manage (if not, I'll get back to you). But for now I'm stuck with an error when trying to create a new catalog. Cheers, N.
  4. Hello Daria, Thanks for your interest. I'm still unable to create a new catalog, even after uninstall/reinstall – so for now I'm stuck with my tests. Re. uninstall (Daminion + Ghostscript), the tool I use showed these leftovers: <Folder>C:\Program Files (x86)\gs</Folder> <Folder>C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Ghostscript</Folder> <Folder>C:\Users\< user name >\AppData\Roaming\Daminion Software</Folder> <Folder>C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\PicaJet.Daminion.Common</Folder> <Folder>C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\PicaJet.Daminion.Common.Consts</Folder> <Folder>C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\PicaJet.Daminion.Common.Localization</Folder> <Folder>C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\PicaJet.Daminion.GDIPlusLibrary</Folder> <Folder>C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\PicaJet.Daminion.MediaProcessingService</Folder> <Folder>C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\PicaJet.Daminion.Plugins.Core</Folder> <Folder>D:\MyDocs(Win)\Daminion Catalogs</Folder> <Key>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Daminion Software</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.dmc</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{58968145-CF01-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3}</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{58968145-CF02-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3}</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{58968145-CF03-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3}</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{58968145-CF04-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3}</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\WOW6432Node\Interface\{58968145-CF01-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3}</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\WOW6432Node\Interface\{58968145-CF02-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3}</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\WOW6432Node\Interface\{58968145-CF03-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3}</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\WOW6432Node\Interface\{58968145-CF04-4341-995F-2EE093F6ABA3}</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Artifex</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Daminion Software</Key><Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\GPL Ghostscript</Key> <Key>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\GPL Ghostscript 9.18</Key> <Value Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion\GACChangeNotification\Default">PicaJet.Daminion.Common,,,9f58e3cb9c5c74e7,x86</Value> <Value Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion\GACChangeNotification\Default">PicaJet.Daminion.Common.Consts,,,28b6774d03bf3ace,x86</Value> <Value Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion\GACChangeNotification\Default">PicaJet.Daminion.Common.Localization,,,e7875ae97a08135c,x86</Value> <Value Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion\GACChangeNotification\Default">PicaJet.Daminion.GDIPlusLibrary,,,f3ea68d2af9506ac,x86</Value> <Value Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion\GACChangeNotification\Default">PicaJet.Daminion.MediaProcessingService,,,a05df303661f189d,x86</Value> <Value Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion\GACChangeNotification\Default">PicaJet.Daminion.Plugins.Core,,,a061f90d44e3839b,x86</Value> <Value Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Data">418A073AA3BC5475</Value> Sorry for the wall of text, just wanted to let you know. 5. Thanks Uwe. Converting to JPEG isn't really a solution as it's only 8 bits deep and lossy (I only use it to send pictures over the Internet). TIFF is great for intermediate files (uncompressed) but has various mostly modest compression schemes so not the best for archiving. The Hubble picture is kinda extreme, I'll make some test files to scout out Daminion's limits. (Including JP2 format.) On the other hand, no problems with my video clips or RAW images. Cheers, N.
  6. Yep, it works. Thanks again! But the default catalog created at install seems corrupt: https://imgur.com/ddqsVGG I'll look into that.
  7. … which will concern about 0.001 % of users. 1. Daminion was unable to create a thumbnail for a really big image (25000x25000 pixels!). Here's the link to that Hubble Deep Field if somebody wants to test it: https://imgsrc.hubblesite.org/hvi/uploads/image_file/image_attachment/31683/STSCI-H-p1917a-f-25500x25500.png Seems excessive, but when you stitch images to make panoramas the result can get that huge. 2. Photoshop duotone images are rendered as plain black and white thumbnails. I'm of course aware that the PS file format is badly documented (see e.g. the amusing rant about that here: https://github.com/gco/xee/blob/master/XeePhotoshopLoader.m#L108 about one third into the code) and that most non-PS software does just that.

    Is the forum dead?

No need to apologize, I just found strange that there was so little activity with so many "lurkers". Re. custom tags I came along to have my machine zombified ( 😉 ) but I see you already swatted the bug! Thanks again, N.
  9. Thanks Daria (and to "the guys" who fixed it also, of course).

    Is the forum dead?

And yet right now there are 110 guest users online…
  11. Hello all! I'm new to Daminion (6.2.0 build 1997 on Win10 home) but trying to create hierarchical tags I get the same error as Egon.
