It would be great if, when we save searches, we could have the option to save the search only for "this catalog only" or "server-wide." Then we could create searches that apply to the whole server, e.g. "no country" search applied to any catalog on the entire server and another search that only applies only to a specific catalog, e.g. models without age and height in "studio shoots" catalog.

I agree with Dean. On more thing regarding saving searches: There should be the possibility to Save, i.e. overwriting the existing saved search without having to key in the complete name again and a Save As, which offers the current name as default that can be changed. Currently, it always shows an empty input field and you need to key in the complete name, risking a typo and you end up have multiple saved searches with slightly similar names and lose track, which is the most recent one.

Hi, each time I start Daminion it comes up with the search criteria shown in the screenshot. I remember that in earlier versions Daminion used to come up with the last used search criteria from the previous session. Is this a bug or a new feature? Best regards, Volker

Hello Daria, I managed to get Daminion client build 2208 working on my Daminion server. Here I can observe the same behaviour: the client always starts with this preset: Best regards, Volker

Wanted to share a solution I created using AWS or facial recognition and tagging. This is just the spark notes on my flow - let me know if interested in code snippets or a more detailed write-up. There are a couple solutions using lightroom and the old picasa. When testing AWS rekognition worked WAYYYY better. I am using daminion server for home - use case is photos from family members phones, gopro, drone in one place easy to access. Process Create Database of Faces in AWS 1 time step, or multiple times when adding new faces/people AWS requires an index of faces that it uses to match. I took individual pictures of people I wanted to tag cropped them to only have the subject's face and indexed them using aws's boto3 module in python. Here I specified the 'external parameter id' field as '[lastname]|[firstname]'. That way when there is a match I have the exact tag that will be added to the photo and recognizable by daminion Match Photo The process for a single photo is as follows: Index faces in the photo (the faces will be indexed with the collection created prior) (python boto3) loop through the faces and find matches (python boto3) Matches are returned as %match. If 95% or higher save tag and move onto the next photo, if less then 95-80% tag all matched faces. Here I error'd on the side of more false positives vs more false negatives Use exiftool to add all the tags saved in step 3 Automation I have a SMB drop box. All users drop photos into the box either manually or automatically with owncloud or nextcloud. Every hour a scheduled task is run that: adds create_date to photo name if not included (iphone for example does not have a unique timestamp in file name) if file does not exist in catalog continue, otherwise delete search and tag faces in photo with python script above move photo to proper picture storage location Daminion file watching service adds it to the catalog This is for all new photos, for historical photos I used a python script to scan and tag all of them. I also add a tag of face_detected if a face was detected but no match was found. This allows for re-scanning in the event you update your face index and want to rescan.

Has HEIC thumbnails in Daminion been added yet? I tried the trial, and added the HEIC extension to allow me to import it, and on the import window it shows the thumbnails since the codec is installed on my server, but once imported into Daminion, they go to the generic icon. I need this to work before I purchase, because we have 1000s of heic images.

Hi, It would be nice (for keyboard users) to have shortcut to open/close windows like Tag, Properties, Tray..... Something like Shift or Control + number (0..9) or F1..F12. (or anything else) Regards

Thanks a lot. I did not find this demo program before and it is quite helpful. I installed it and yes, the problem is now corrected in the current version: the NEF file and the JPG file are both found when I search mรฉsange.

Yes, you're right. I tried also with 'Authors' but didn't worked. (I didn't realized it was possible to assign several Authors). So, looks like it's not possible to sort tags which can have several entries but Daminion can internaly sort keywords. for example, in this media I assigned keywords in this order V16, V15, v14, V13, V17 (as shown in Details view) but in properties panel keywords are sorted alphabeticaly !! Most of the time sorting by keywords is not very usefull but sometimes it is. So why not sorting them as it's already done in properties panel ?

Even with port forwarding and opening things up I couldn't get through to the daminion service, though I could access the default windows IIS page. I ended up setting up a VPN and was then able to use the local address to connect.

Is there any way to monitor the progress of generating AI labels? I'm attempting to generate labels for a lot of unlabeled photos (now that the "search for unassigned" bug is fixed), but it seems like a bunch of photos are not getting labeled, even after several hours. It's difficult to tell whether they aren't getting queued, whether the queue is stalled, or whether they were not processed successfully. When I look at the cvis.txt log file, I see a lot of entries like: DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:03:35,751 CVis.OrchestratorActor [29] - NextTaskMessage INFO 2020-03-19 13:03:35,760 CVis.ImageTask [29] - not found media items for processing DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:03:35,762 CVis.OrchestratorActor [29] - WorkDoneMessage DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:04:20,775 CVis.OrchestratorActor [29] - NextTaskMessage INFO 2020-03-19 13:04:20,791 CVis.ImageTask [29] - not found media items for processing DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:04:20,796 CVis.OrchestratorActor [29] - WorkDoneMessage DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:05:05,808 CVis.OrchestratorActor [33] - NextTaskMessage INFO 2020-03-19 13:05:05,818 CVis.ImageTask [33] - not found media items for processing DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:05:05,821 CVis.OrchestratorActor [33] - WorkDoneMessage DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:05:50,825 CVis.OrchestratorActor [34] - NextTaskMessage INFO 2020-03-19 13:05:50,840 CVis.ImageTask [34] - not found media items for processing DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:05:50,843 CVis.OrchestratorActor [34] - WorkDoneMessage DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:06:35,848 CVis.OrchestratorActor [35] - NextTaskMessage INFO 2020-03-19 13:06:35,859 CVis.ImageTask [35] - not found media items for processing DEBUG 2020-03-19 13:06:35,862 CVis.OrchestratorActor [35] - WorkDoneMessage When I look at my Google Cloud Vision API metrics, I see 89 requests in the past hour, but none in the past several minutes, and that's after marking 2000 photos in Daminion for labeling. BTW, in the cvis.txt log, when it does find a file, it seems like it's logging the location of it's thumbnail, not the original photo location. It would be great if you could view photos in a new window such that you could easily switch between the normal Daminion window and the map window, via ALT TAB. At the moment you can either have a small docked window (which takes up your space) or a large window where you can't easily switch back to the normal Daminion window.

Hi, It would be better to make it work properly rather than to remove this possibility. In my case (which can be others users) I wanted to exclude all video formats (Mov, Mpeg 4, ...) In other group tag, list can be a bit longer and it will be easier and faster to exclude all in one click. Regards Alain

I saw the facebook post about the new auto-tagging feature. As the full article says, tagging is a relentless chore and one that I'd love to avoid. But I know it's the only way I'm going to retrieve my pictures in the way I want. I have played with many AI-driven tagging applications and none of them has so far looked even vaguely useful. So I thought I'd take up Daminion's offer of a test drive of their take on this tricky subject. So I threw a few random images at the test site to evaluate the results. I'm sorry that the image is so small but there is a limit of 295 px wide, which is a shame. I did 9 images. The AI engine processed them with lightning speed. But how accurate were the results? More to the point how USEFUL to me are they? Because the most accurate AI tag is useless if it is not meaningful to me. Of the nine, five produced a tag that was accurate (check marks), although only one would have been my first choice Frequently, there were tags that unhelpful to downright weird. For example, the picture of a deer had a suggested tag of "Adaptation" Some had no useful tags at all and the picture of a cat was identified as a dog! If these tags were auto-suggested. I would have to spend a lot of time dismissing unwanted ones. Conclusion: Nice try but there's a way to go before AI tags would be even remotely useful. What's your experience? Paul

Hi, I'd like to exclude all items with keyword 'Voiture' As keyword list is pretty long, I expected easier to do this in advanced panel but didn't find 'Does not contains' or 'Not equals' in condition list. Ok, I did this in long keyword list and with 'Alt' key exclude 'Voiture' Now, if I come back to advanced search panel, I got 'Not equals' selected but not listed in conditions list !!! Would be nice to add 'not equals' in conditions list.

I was selecting a batch of 1000 files, generating AI tags, and then walking away, so I don't know exactly how long it took to complete. But on my Google console, ti's showing a peak over the past 7 days of just over 200, comparable current usage, and so overall looks a lot similar to what you posted.

I just came to the forums to report the exact same issue. I've used the new build to successfully generate AI tags for a few thousand photos, but advanced search to find empty labels shows all items. Furthermore, under the Tags pane, the number of AI Tags listed as "Unknown" never goes down, even as photos are successfully tagged and appear elsewhere in the AI tags list.

Hi, Nothing serious here, just ergonomic considerations. In tag panel you can move (drag / drop) categories as you want in the list. (Good point) Let's take an example. In General preset, I'd like to move "Saved searches" in top of the list, Ok, good. Now, if I decide to Customize "General" preset and add a categorie for example When I close this window, my personnal setting order is not anymore applied ! It would be nice to keep user"s sorting order after to customize tag presets. Regards

I, for one, can not wait for this implementation. It is after-all an optional feature, that you can activate/deactivate as a value added service. I am certain that the format and file size limitations (of the web preview) will be taken into consideration when the final integrations is pushed out to release. In the final release, I am sure that you will be able to set the accuracy threshold. I will experiment with a prediction threshold percentage (E.g. all tags above 80% probability) that I consider reasonably accurate. I will set up a new temporary catalog for imports so I can review and approve all newly assigned Google Vision tags. Once I am happy with the auto-discovered metadata I will move these assets into the working catalog. My tagging workflow will become one of revision and minor correction where the AI algorithm misidentifies. For those of us who have hundreds of thousands of digital assets to process yearly, this will save months in the tagging workflow. I DO NOT see this integration replacing human tagging, but rather to serve as a tag suggestion feature to increase productivity. This AI development is new and cutting edge in the DAM industry and I predict that as the technology matures the accuracy will too. You also have to consider that Google Vision uses a generically trained model. You can invest the time and effort to train your own specific model on the AI platform if you have a super specific domain.

Hi, I know that Daminion team is not aware of ergonomic keyboard shortcut (most of people use a mouse), but anyway, let's try. In folder tree you can browse it with up/down arrow key from keyboard (good) Now, what would be awsome (from keyboard user point of view) is to validate (green dot) selected folder (2019 02 10 Ski Chamrousse) with 'Enter' key. If If you want to extend this ergonomic consideration, a double clic on folder name would apply green dot on this folder. This is a bit less restrictive than to hint small area (circle at the end of folder name) with cursor.
